Range Resources paid $3.3 billion to acquire the corporation, which will give the company a foothold in the Gulf Coast. The transaction itself was estimated to be valued at a total of $4.4 billion, but it had to be adjusted to compensate for over $1 billion in debt that Memorial Development Resources had accrued.
